HKMU Final Year Project
An indie animated film catered to young adults, illustrating the life of Ling who finds herself lost in what to do with her life. She goes into an imaginary world to search for her lost soul and to escape the hectic world that she finds herself trapped in. Soul searching refers to finding one’s self. This film looks into burnout and the psychology of a person in an imaginative way. It shows how stress in our daily lives has affected us negatively.

Synopsis
A university student in her early twenties strives to socialize and conform to her friends even though she’s still lonely. Moreover, dealing with the stress from her academic life causes a great depression, unable to get a good mix of work-life balance. Thus, sends her to an imaginary world of how her academic and social life causes her pressure leading to burnout is unable to deal with it anymore she hides away cracked but learns she has to help herself first before she can lead to the next step in her life.
Character Design
Ling
(20 years-old, university student)
The main character of this animation.
A shy and introverted girl, who often feels depressed. She tries to conform to her friends, can’t seem to keep up with her schedule, bad work-life balance, pressured and stressed out. Daydreaming in her own fantasy world sometimes gives her a chance to take a break from the reality. Likes clothes that are comfortable and feel secure when staying at home.

A human-liked monster from Ling’s imagination. It came from the logo of Google Classroom. Thick and huge in body size. Smash things when it gets angry. Ling will have a thrilling adventure with this monster in the imaginary world.
